Atlanta suburbs with the biggest homes for sale (2026)
Cities ranked by the median finished square footage of homes for sale today.
Live figures from active listings, updated October 8, 2026.
If space is the priority — a home office, a guest room, a basement for the kids — this list shows where the typical home for sale is largest. Each city's median size is shown with its median price and price per square foot, so you can tell big-and-pricey apart from big-for-the-money.
Size is measured as finished living area from the listing. Unfinished basements usually aren't counted, which can understate homes in hilly areas where full basements are common.

How this list is built
Ranked by the median finished square footage of active homes for sale in each city (homes under 300 sq ft or missing size excluded). Covers houses, townhomes and condos (land and lots excluded) in the cities we serve, among cities with at least 60 homes listed. Recomputed daily; for the largest cities the figure comes from a sample of up to 1,000 active listings.
More house, more cost to run
- Heating and cooling, insurance and maintenance all scale with size. Ask for utility history during due diligence.
- Bigger homes on bigger lots in outer suburbs may be on a septic system or private well — see septic systems.
- Compare best-value cities by price per square foot to find where size comes cheapest.
Common questions
Where can I get the most house for my money near Atlanta?
Look at cities that rank high here and low on price per square foot. Both figures are shown under each city above.
Is basement space included?
Only if it's finished and the listing counts it. Unfinished basements are usually excluded from the square footage.
Do bigger homes have higher property taxes?
Taxes follow assessed value, which tends to rise with size. The rate itself depends on the county and city.
Are these mostly new homes?
Not necessarily. Some cities rank high because of older large homes on big lots; check the year built on each listing.
